Possible frost record in Poland. Thermometers showed -41.1 degrees Celsius

Rekordowy mróz w Tatrach Zachodnich

This can be a record in the history of frosts in Poland. The measurement from the liter boiler in the Western Tatras indicated at night – 41.1 degrees Celsius.

In the morning Poles greeted extremely low temperatures on thermometers. According to IMGW, it was probably the most cold night during this winter. It is possible that it will also be written down in the history of measurements.

Cold record in Poland?

The profile of meteoprognoza.pl announced that at the Litworowy boiler at night -41.1 degrees Celsius were recorded. “This is the lowest temperature ever recorded in Poland,” informs the profile of weather enthusiasts. The data comes from a station installed as part of a scientific project in Tatra frost. The most current measurement from this place came at 8:59 and amounted to -20.85 degrees Celsius.

A cold study in a liter cauldron is conducted as part of a scientific project devoted to Tatra frost. Its manager is Dr. Bartosz Czernecki from the Department of Meteorology and Climatology of the University of A. Mickiewicz in Poznań.

Two measuring points were installed thanks to the favor of the Tatra National Park and the Ministry of the Environment. Scientists selected places pretending to be Polish pole cold.

Frost in a liter boiler

One of them is just a liter boiler, a glacier circus in the highest part of the Litworowa Valley in the Polish Western Tatras. The deepest dry concave formation in the Tatra Mountains is known for extremely low temperatures. Researchers inform that the boiler has a clear bottom of approx. 1794 m above sea level, the harsh climate means that vegetation has heavy vegetation conditions there and in the middle of autumn there is not much left from the lithworks flowering there. There are not many rocks at the bottom and in the summer there are calmly inversion and frequent temperature drops below zero.

“We suppose that breaking the barrier -10 ℃ Even in July and August is real (of course in extreme conditions). In winter, we count on a breaking of the barrier -40 ℃ or even -50 ℃ in the case of raw winter (with a frosty teaching) during scientific research, “wrote researchers. As you can see, their prediction worked.

41 degrees Celsius is considered to be the cold record. Such a temperature was recorded in 1940 in Siedlce.
