The funeral of Pope Francis will take place this Saturday (i.e. April 26) at 10:00 – as the Vatican press office informed.

Francis was born on December 17, 1936 in Buenos Aires as Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He became the pope on March 13, 2013. He was a big fan of sport, especially football, which he practiced in his youth. The Argentine club proudly boasted such a unique fan. After the departure of Pope Francis, the president of San Lorenzo announced a special declaration. Marcelo Moretti wrote an open letter to the media after the death of the most famous supporter, informing that a new stadium will be created with the name of “Pope Francis”.

The interested person himself was to be informed about this fact, accepting it with emotion and great approval.

Franciszek published four encyclicals, five apostolic exhortations, 35 papal letters of a decree and 38 Apostolic Constitution. The first encyclical was created together with Benedict XVI, who did not finish it before his abdication.

During his pontificate, Pope Francis had 130 official foreign delegations. The longest of them took place in September 2024, when the Holy Father visited Asia and Oceania. In 12 days he covered a distance of 34 thousand. km, visited four countries, and spent over 40 hours on board the plane.
