Polish woman eliminated from the Games on the final stretch. "A nightmare"

The echoes surrounding the exclusion of kayaker Dorota Borowska from the Olympic Games are still ongoing. The Pole has spoken out after a shocking decision to break anti-doping rules.

The bad news came literally a few dozen minutes before the official presentation of the Polish Olympic team for the games in Paris. Dorota Borowska was initially on the list of lucky ones, but was eventually crossed off it.

Paris 2024: Dorota Borowska removed from the Olympic Games list

What exactly happened? The Polish Canoe Association announced in a special statement that on July 15, the International Canoe Federation reported the detection of a prohibited substance in a sample taken from Borowska in June of this year.

The Polish woman has the right to appeal and demand testing of sample B. And Borowska will actually use this route.

– I have never, ever consciously taken any illegal substance. I am so oversensitive about it that it is simply impossible. I do not believe what happened. It seems to me that this is a nightmare from which I will wake up in a moment. I will do everything to prove my innocence. I will not give up. I will not allow the many years of my honest work, the work of my coach, my staff and all those who helped me to be destroyed – Borowska admitted in an interview for the portal sportowe-poznan.pl.

Borowska is a medalist of the World and European Championships. She returned to kayaking competition after a serious injury. At the last Olympic Games (Tokyo 2021) she took fourth place. The Polish woman specializes in the C-1 competition.

XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris from July 26

The capital of France has already hosted the Summer Olympics twice in the history of Olympism. Paris hosted the most important sports event a long time ago, in 1900 and 1924. The International Olympic Committee decided that exactly one hundred years after the last time it was held on Parisian soil, the heart of France would once again be the main arena for the Summer Games.

The slogan of the 2024 Olympic Games is: “Wide Open Games”. From Wednesday, July 24 (opening ceremony July 26) to Sunday, August 11, a total of 329 events will be held in 32 sports. A total of over 10,000 female and male athletes will take part in the Olympic competition. Interestingly, in Paris, there will be full equality, exactly 50 percent of female and male participants at the games.

The Polish team won a total of 14 medals at the last Olympic Games, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). They included four gold medals and five silver and bronze medals.

In Paris, we will see a total of 213 people in white and red colors. 113 women and 100 men, for the first time in history there will be more women at the summer Olympics than men in the Polish team. It is worth adding that the Polish team will also have 251 collaborators, including 110 coaches.
