Polish volleyball players start fighting in the World Cup. “Can’t wait!”

The tournament will take place from August 22 – September 7 in Thailand. 32 teams will perform, and the matches will be played in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Nakhon Ratchasima and on Phuket. Polish women went to group G. looking at the group set, they will be favorites to go to further games from the first place.

Volleyball World Cup: Julita Piasecka before the Poland – Vietnam match

In total, Polish volleyballers reached for three medals of the World Championships in their history. It started from 1952, the first edition of the tournament, when it ended with the best result – silver discs. The team was then led by coach Zygmunt Krzyżanowski, the Polish women won six of seven matches, losing only in the “final” (the league phase, i.e. everyone with everyone) from the USSR 0: 3.

Four years later it ended with bronze, again under the baton of Krzyżanowski. Poland came again to the USSR, losing 1: 3. Added to this were lost from the GDR (1: 3) and Romania (2: 3), but Polish women secured the podium.

How will it be in 2025? During the last World Championships, three years earlier (i.e. 2022), the team led the first season by coach Stefano Lavarini reached the quarter -finals. Ultimately, Polish women slightly lost to later, gold medalists, Serbians, ending a thriller in Gliwice on a five -piece.

On Saturday (i.e. August 23), Polish women will open the tournament with a match with Vietnamese.

– Ahead of us with the Vietnamese, so we certainly analyze their game. It is a very interesting rival and interesting volleyball. I am also looking forward to this tomorrow’s match (…) It is a completely different rival than even the Japanese, with whom we had the opportunity to play recently. It seems to me that the most important thing will be for us to adapt to their style of play. They focused on each other and on our quality – said Julita Piasecka, receiving the national team, who is the debutant at the World Championships party.

Polish women in the FIVB ranking are in a high, third place. Vietnam is currently number 22 on the world list, which best reflects, who is the favorite of this meeting.

The matches of the 2025 volleyball World Cup tournament will be shown on Polsat Sport antennas. In addition, the matches of the Polish national team will be shown in the open antennas of Polsat. Traditionally, online broadcasts will be available, among others on the Polsat Box Go platform.
