Polish volleyball legends took shovels in hand. Heroic fight for Nysa
Former Polish national volleyball players rushed to help the residents of Nysa. Together with thousands of others, they saved the embankment throughout the night to save the city from destruction.
Fans from all over Poland are sending support to PSG Stal Nysa, which is not thinking about volleyball due to the flooding. The team returned from Rzeszów on Sunday to save the flooded city. PlusLiga postponed their next match, so they have a few days to focus on what is more important – saving Nysa’s achievements. Former representatives of the country, who took shovels into their own hands, have launched a relief campaign.
Former Polish national team players saved Nysa from flooding
Daniel Plinski and Robert Prygiel were the strength of the Polish national team many years ago. Both can boast of having played at the Olympic Games. The former is now Stal’s coach, the latter its president. Together with other people from the club, they ignored the circumstances and rushed to help the flood victims. Materials appeared on social media showing the two great players filling and carrying sandbags.
Together with other Nysans, they fought to save the embankment where a breach had been noticed. Neither the weather nor the time of night changed the attitude of the residents, who at the peak were supposed to be in the critical area by as many as two thousand. Information about how the operation is going and how the team members are helping was eagerly shared by Stal on social media.
“Now the services are taking action. Soaked, tired, but we did everything we could/ Thank you for all the kind words! Nysa – a GREAT job!” – you can read on Stal’s Twitter profile. The publication was accompanied by a photo showing the club’s employees, including Prygl and Pliński.
PSG Stal Nysa forgets about volleyball for a moment
PSG Stal Nysa is the seventh team in the last season of PlusLiga. The home match against PGE GiEK Skra Bełchatów scheduled for Thursday will take place in November. The date and place of the next Nysan match will most likely change. The match against GKS Katowice will take place in the capital of Silesia, not in the Opole province.
