Polish space revolution. These successes bring us closer to the elite group
The Polish space industry is growing stronger, and the EagleEye mission is just one of the groundbreaking projects. There are many indications that Poland will join the elite of countries with their own satellites.
Poland is making significant progress in the space sector, moving closer to realizing its dream of having its own satellites in orbit. Space projects in our country, including the EagleEye mission, are developing at an impressive pace, which is evidence of Poland’s growing role in the global space industry.
Polish satellites in space?
While many countries in the world already have their own satellites, Poland has long had limited capabilities in this regard. However, in recent years our space industry has taken several significant steps forward, bringing Poland closer to joining the elite group of countries capable of building and operating their own satellites.
One of the latest successes of the Polish space industry is the launch of the EagleEye satellite, which is the largest and most technically advanced satellite created in Poland. The Falcon9 rocket from SpaceX carried the satellite into orbit, and engineers from Creotech managed to establish contact with it, which confirms the success of the mission. EagleEye has the ability to take pictures of the Earth’s surface with extremely high resolution, which is a great achievement for Polish space technology.
However, EagleEye is just one of many events that demonstrate the dynamic development of the Polish space sector. Jędrzej Kowalewski, president of ScanWay, emphasized in an interview with Next.Gazeta.pl that the last few weeks have been a period of exceptional successes for the Polish space industry, which he called “an absolute rally of Polish space thought.”
Kowalewski pointed out that this period of intensive development is the result of many years of work and negotiations. In just seven weeks, breakthrough events took place, such as the first flight of a Polish rocket into space, the launch of the largest Polish satellite into orbit, and the signing of contracts with the European Space Agency worth millions of euros.
Development of the Polish space sector
In recent weeks, ten key events have taken place for the Polish space sector, including the first flight of a Polish rocket crossing the Kármán Line, the launch of the Polish vision system on board the Ariane-6 rocket, and the commencement of work on the technology of automatic refuelling of satellites in orbit, conducted by the PIAP Space team and scientists from Łukasiewicz – ILOT.
Polish space entities not only participate in research and demonstration missions, but also implement advanced contracts that develop the domestic space industry. These achievements indicate that Poland is becoming an increasingly important player in the field of space technologies, which is confirmed by the words of Jędrzej Kowalewski.
