Dorota Borowska fought for a long time to clear her name. In recent weeks, there has been much talk about her suspension due to the detection of a prohibited substance in her body. The kayaker defended herself by claiming that clostebol had entered her body through a belt ointment. For many days, she sent more materials to prove her innocence. When last week the judge of the Anti-Doping Chamber of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport did not overturn her suspension, it seemed that the athlete from Nowy Dwór would not start in Paris.

The authorities of the Polish Canoe Association did not want to give up, using the possibility of appealing the decision. This proved effective, so Borowska quickly received the nomination and also started competing in the C2-500m competition with Sylwia Szczerbińska. Although initially they did not advance directly to the semi-finals, they did so after some time through the quarter-finals.

Borowska did not hide her joy after Tuesday’s competition that she could be in Paris. In Tokyo, the lack of a medal was decided by thousandths of a second. She almost missed another chance for a medal because of the dog’s ointment. In an interview with sport.pl, the kayaker admitted that she wonders whether the doping case will affect her image.

– I am a little afraid that I will always be associated with this doping situation. The truth has won, but will people accept it? It is not my role to worry about what Janusz, who is sitting on the couch with a beer, thinks about me. This is not the time to prove anything to him – said Borowska.
