According to the agreement signed on April 10, the Poznań factory will gain access to the technology needed for servicing and modernizing American technical security cars M88A2, also known as Hercules. These vehicles are indispensable support for Abrams tanks and other heavy combat equipment.
Building potential
The announcement issued by WIt emphasized that the agreement is part of a wider strategy for building national industrial potential in the field of maintenance and logistics of American armored equipment. The contract includes not only vehicles belonging to the Polish Armed Forces, but also those located in other European countries. This is the first of the planned contracts of this type that are to strengthen the cooperation and technical abilities of the plant.
President Wz, Elżbieta Wawrzynkiewicz, cited by “Gazeta Wyborcza”, described the signed agreement as a “milestone” in the construction of security not only Poland, but all of Europe and NATO structures. Thanks to cooperation with Bae Systems, WST will gain access to the necessary know-how, enabling full technical support for Hercules-from inspections to modernization.
Competence center
As reported, a regional competence center will be established in the Poznań plant. Technical training for Polish specialists is planned, as well as the creation of spare parts warehouses. This will allow a faster response in the event of a breakdown and will ensure high combat readiness M88A2.
Andrew Corea, vice president of Bae Systems, emphasized that this partnership will allow Hercules technical fitness to be maintained in the long run. Service works, reviews and modernizations will be carried out on site in Poland, which will significantly increase the independence and efficiency of military activities.
