“Polish Como” delights tourists. A special train has been running there for a year
This time it’s not “little Vienna” or “Polish Rome” and it’s not even about the city. We focus on the lake compared to an Italian gem. You will find it in southwestern Poland at the foot of the Owl Mountains.
While some lakes around the world are experiencing a revival, such as the Aral lakes in Central Asia, and others are disappearing, some remain in the same good condition and attract tourists even at the end of winter. Do you remember the place called “Polish Como”? The season to visit them is starting again. Remember that the long-awaited railway connection has been launched there since March 2025 and is very popular.
“Polish Como” like in Italy
Como is undoubtedly a special lake, located in northern Italy, in the Lombardy region, at the foot of the Alps and close to the border with Switzerland. Although it is far from Poland and the views there are not identical to ours, for some reason many people notice that our Lake Bielawskie (Sudety Lagoon) provides a similar climate to that one.
The “Polish Como” in Lower Silesia, because Bielawa is located in this region of the country, has been attracting tourists for years. It delights with its picturesque location and mountains that can be seen from a distance. In spring and summer there is a lot of greenery, you can also count on a sandy beach with platforms and crystal clear water. Even if spring hasn’t officially started yet, it’s worth planning a trip there now, especially since a convenient train has been running to Lake Bielawskie for a year.
By train to Bielawa. The connection attracts tourists
Residents of Wrocław are particularly close to the “Polish Como” – the distance is approximately 60 km, which is 1.5 hours by car. From March 9, 2025, you can also use the railway connection and stops – Bielawa Camping Sudety, and Bielawa Góry Sowie – which tourists have been waiting for for years.
Currently, we can reach Bielawa Zachodnia directly from Wrocław by the Lower Silesian Railways. If you get off at this point, you can walk to the lake in just a few minutes. The journey takes a maximum of 1 hour and 15 minutes. As the website um.bielawa.pl pointed out in January 2026, nearly 600,000 people have used the railbuses of the regional carrier since the return of the railway to Bielawa. travelers
In the future, this railway line is to be even longer and lead up to Srebrna Góra – tourists will get there by train, probably in 2027
It is worth remembering that a trip to Lake Bielawskie will provide the most excitement in the summer. Then there is an extensive accommodation base, water equipment rental, shops, fast food bars, an open swimming pool and much more.
