Polish champions like FC Barcelona. Jagiellonia was not afraid of the favorite

Polish champions with a raised forehead said goodbye to the conference league. In the second quarter -finals, Jagiellonia Białystok drew 1: 1 with Betis.
After a 0: 2 defeat in Seville, it was known that although the result – still within the reach of Polish champions in their area – would require a perfect performance. Jagiellonia, as she got used to the baton of coach Adrian Siemieniec, but played with a claw and heart to fight. Fans not only in Bialystok, they can be satisfied with how in a clash with the leading club from Laliga, the Polish team presented themselves.
Conference league: Jagiellonia Białystok dropped out. A draw with the favorite from Seville
Looking at the number of situations created by the players of coach Siemieniec, you may wonder why only one hit on the hosts’ side – was on the scoreboard – after the final whistle. Betis had a two -goal advance from the first meeting, but one could get the impression that the Spaniards were unlikely to expect that they would be under such pressure from PKO BP Ekstraklasa.
Already in the 1st minute of the meeting, Jarosław Kubicki could lead Jaga to the lead, but his head shot passed the right Betisu goal post. It did not succeed at the start, and the first part of the game failed. Kristoffer Hansen hit the net, but the judge – after consulting VAR – did not rightly recognized the goal. Earlier, the hosts did not avoid burnt.
Hansen himself could also enter the list of shooters before. At the decisive moment, he would get from Jesus Imaz, however … a bit changed, thanks to the uneven turf at the Jagiellonia stadium. The ball jumped and Hansen did not turn the football almost to an empty goal.
As it happens in football, the next unused actions of the hosts meant that in the second part – when it seemed that the goal for Polish champions was a matter of time – the result was opened by visitors. In the 78th minute Cedric Bakambu silenced the stands in Bialystok, shooting accurately at the net, next to the helpless Sławomir Abramowicz in this situation.
Jagiellonia did not intend to let go. Just three minutes later, Darko Churlinov poured hope into the hearts of over 20,000 fans. Hitting to 1: 1, however, was the last of that day.
Judge Clement Turpin canceled a penalty kick for Betis, after an effective – from the perspective of the hosts – VAR verification. The two -legged one ended with a 3: 1 result for Betis.
However, Białystok residents once again showed that they are a Polish team that you can easily be proud of. Interestingly, Jagiellonia obtained the same result on Thursday evening as … FC Barcelona. On April 5, Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny also recorded a 1: 1 draw in a league clash, which only shows, how the class team had to face Polish champions.
