Poles were ignored by world authorities! It smelled of scandal

Kai Huckenbeck

None of the Polish speedway riders received the so-called a permanent wild card for next year’s Grand Prix series. The elections of the authorities are controversial.

The decision to have no wild cards for Poles means that we will only see two representatives of our country in next year’s series. These are the current individual world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik and Dominik Kubera, who did not finish in the top six of this year’s series, but gained a pass to next year’s world championship competition thanks to his great driving in the Grand Prix Challenge. Wild cards were awarded to: Jason Doyle (Australia), Mikkel Michelsen (Denmark), Kai Huckenbeck (Germany) and Jan Kvech (Czech Republic).

Dudek and Madsen treated each other with pleasure

Therefore, competitors who participated in it this year also received invitations from the organizers of the series. The lack of a permanent wild card for any Pole is surprising, especially since our country hosts the best league in the world and the stadiums are filled to the last place during the Grand Prix. It seems that Patryk Dudek would be able to cope in the elite, but he must have had a good taste.

The situation is similar for Leon Madsen, who is a two-time runner-up in the world. The Dane took part in this year’s edition of the GP, taking 9th place. However, he missed one tournament due to an injury.

The most discussed are the invitations for Huckenbeck (12th place in the 2024 GP) and Kvech (15th place in the 2024 GP). The cycle promoter may use a geographical key here. There is a lot of talk about the fact that as many competitors from as many countries as possible should take part in the Individual World Championships. However, since this option is being considered, one may wonder why Doyle received the invitation. After the 39-year-old joined the GP team, we now have four Australians. Meanwhile, there is no round of the cycle in the Antipodes…
