Data presented by the Central Statistical Office show that in the first month of the holidays, the highest increase in retail sales was recorded in the “pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, orthopedic equipment” group (an increase of 10.8%). This means that last month Poles bought one tenth more things from this area than in July 2025.

There was also a significant increase in the following categories: “furniture, electronics, household appliances” (by 8.8%) and “motor vehicles, motorcycles, parts” (by 8.1%). The Central Statistical Office notes that in the “food, beverages and tobacco products” category there was a 1.5% increase in sales. A decline in sales was recorded in the following areas: “textiles, clothing, footwear” (by 1.7%), “press, books, other sales in specialized stores” (by 1.2%), as well as “solid, liquid and gaseous fuels” (by 0.2%).

The Central Statistical Office also announced that in July – compared to the same period last year – the value of online retail sales at current prices was 9 percent higher. higher, and the share of online sales in “total” sales increased from 8.6%. up to 8.9 percent

Retail sales of goods (both consumer and non-consumer) are a key indicator of internal demand, which is the main driving force of Polish GDP, reflecting the real purchasing power and financial mood of Poles.
