Poles want to fulfill the key promise of Tusk. Even at the expense of the budget
Almost 40 percent Poles believe that the current team should raise a tax -free amount without looking at the budget – according to the SW Research study for Onet. It is already known that there is no chance in 2026.
Increasing the tax -free amount to 60,000 PLN is one of the key promises of the pre -election civic coalition. Half of the term is fast approaching, and it is already known that the implementation of this postulate in 2026 will certainly not be. In the budget for next year, the increase in the free amount was not foreseen. This is not a surprise, because Prime Minister Donald Tusk informed about it in July.
– When we are ready with a tax -free and timing project, I mean at what time I will inform you exactly. Certainly for 2026 it will not be – The head of government said in “Facts after Facts.”
In earlier statements, the prime minister suggested that the increase in the free amount may occur in this parliamentary term, which would mean that it would happen in 2027.
The increase in the free amount is a solution expected by millions of Poles. When a year ago, the SW Research studio in a survey for “Wprost” asked which promise unrealized by the current coalition regret the most, the respondents just pointed out the increase in the free amount (38 percent). The next places included legal abortion until the 12th week of pregnancy and changes in the so -called Belka tax – 22.7 percent respectively and 21.6 percent).
Increase in the free amount at the expense of the budget?
Now the studio has conducted an examination commissioned by Onet, in which she asked if raising a tax -free amount should be a government priority, even at the cost of increasing the budget deficit. Less than 40 percent respondents answered affirmative, and 29.2 percent respondents were of the opposite opinion. 31 percent chose the “hard to say” option.
The survey shows that with a increase in tax -free amount, men are much more often than women (46.5 percent to 34.1 percent). This option is particularly supported by respondents aged 35-49 (43.2 percent).
We would like to remind you that currently the tax -free amount is 30 thousand. PLN, which is the result of Polish order introduced in 2022 by the Government of Law and Justice. People who earn this amount do not pay PIT at all.
The study was carried out on September 2-3, 2025 by the SW Research agency using the on-line interview method (CAWI-Computer-Assisted Web Interview) on the SW Panel internet panel. As part of the study, 830 surveys were conducted with a nationwide adult test. A quota selection was used – the sample was representative due to the total distribution of sex, age and class of the size of the town.
