According to information provided by the Central Statistical Office, in the last month of 2024 a significant increase in retail sales (at fixed prices) compared to the same period of 2023 from among the presented categories of goods was recorded by entities from the group “Car vehicles, motorcycles, parts” (by 25.1 percent), which means that we bought as much as a quarter more things from this area. Although not so impressive, but still greater than in the end of 2023, sales were also observed in units from the “Press, books, remaining sales in specialized stores” (by 4.2 percent), as well as in entities trading in solid fuels, liquid and liquid and liquid fuels and gas (by 3.2 percent) and in entities selling pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, orthopedic equipment “(by 1.7 %). Enterprises classified into a group with the highest share in retail sales “Total” – “Food, drinks and tobacco products” showed a drop in 4.3 percent.

The Central Statistical Office also points out that in December last year – compared to December 2023 – a higher value of retail sales via the Internet at current prices (by 10.9 percent) was recorded. The share of online sales in the sales of “Total” increased in December 2024 – compared to the same period of the previous year – from 9.4 to 10.2 percent. Among the presented groups with a significant share of online sales, an increase in participation was reported by enterprises from groups: “textiles, clothing, footwear” (from 17.3 percent a year ago to 23.7 percent) and “Furniture, RTV, Household appliances” (from 17, 8 to 21.7 percent). However, units from the “Press, books, remaining sales in specialized stores” (from 26.2 to 25.3 percent) showed the decrease.
