Poles can rejoice. Check the 2024/2025 Nations League table

The Polish national team successfully started the 2024/2025 Nations League. After a weak Euro 2024, Michał Probierz’s players took advantage of the opportunities that came their way, as well as luck. In Glasgow, they snatched a 3-2 victory, which secured them the all-important three points.

The Nations League was created as a competitive alternative to friendly matches. The plan seems to be working, because the match with Scotland was full of emotions, and both teams fought for a favorable result until the last seconds. The Poles were already leading 2:0 (after goals by Sebastian Szymański and Robert Lewandowski), only to draw 2:2. Finally, Nicola Zalewski’s penalty kick gave Probierz’s team an important victory.

In the case of the LN group stage, every point can be valuable. The top two teams in each group qualify for the quarter-finals. Poland, after winning, takes first place in the group. The Portuguese are in second place. Roberto Martinez’s team beat Croatia 2-1 at home with goals from Diogo Dalot and Cristiano Ronaldo. For “CR7” it was the 900th goal of his career.

The fight for promotion in the Nations League 2024/2025

In the second round of the group stage, Poland will play away to Croatia, while Portugal will host Scotland. Both matches are scheduled for Sunday, September 8.

The top two teams qualify for the quarter-finals of the Nations League. The third team plays a relegation play-off, and the fourth is automatically relegated to a lower division. The last edition of the tournament was won by the Spanish team.
