Poles attacked the Germans at the World Cup. Nervous atmosphere with a scandal in the background

What exactly are we talking about? During the Sunday (i.e. March 2) competition at the normal hill in Trondheim, already during a television message, there were doubts among Eurosport commentators about … the format of the Suits of Karl Geiger. Ultimately, the German took a high fourth place, but a few shots of how the outfit of a well -known jumper looked like, the internet spread quickly.

What’s more, it did not end only with a few sentences from commenting on the struggle of jumpers Michał Korościel or Igor Błachut. The president of the Polish Ski Association also took the floor.

In an interview with Przegląd Sportowy / Onet, Adam Małysz also had great doubts as to the actual appearance of Geiger’s suit.

– This can be observed from the very beginning of the season and looks like a fight with windmills. Only I don’t know if I can express my opinion. (…) If (EMPE coaches) see an inflection, they should protest. You say that Geiger had a great outfit, but after all it was the same during the four hills with Markus Eisenbichler. We brought photos to controllers, they spread their hands and said that during the inspection everything was fine – admitted one of the largest legends of Polish ski jumping.

Małysz’s words, not for the first time, were widely heard. Recently, journalists of Norwegian “Dagbladet” have often taken up threads related to Polish ski jumping. A dozen or so days ago they conveyed the Norwegians – with the words of Alexander Stoeckl – about the resignation of the person concerned himself from the function in PZN. This time, among others for the words of Małysz and the message of Polish media who were to targets Geiger.

Andreas Stjernen, currently Norwegian Viaplay, took the floor. What does he think about the situation with Geiger, visible in the television picture?

– When you sit on the beam, there should not be too much material in the step. It will be a bit, but it looks tight. At the same time, you need to trust the inspection of the overalls. If there were an exceeding, either the jumper would be thrown out or would be ordered to do something about it. You can always speculate when seeing such photos. But there will be no evidence until you see the suit when it is completely stretched. I believe that Poles should first of all look at their own equipment and their jumps before they start attacking the overalls of Germans, ”said Stjernen.

Norwegian Marius Lindvik won the Sunday competition. The silver of the World Cup went to German Andreas Wellinger, and bronze went to Austrian Jan Hoerl. The best of the Poles was the tenth in the final classification Paweł Wąsek.

When is another chance for medals among jumpers at the World Championships in classical skiing? On Wednesday (i.e. March 5), mixed teams competition. On Thursday (i.e. March 6) team competitions will be held, qualifications for the individual competition on Friday, and on Saturday – the competition of men on a large hill in Trondheim.
