Poles are looking for other impressions. New leisure trend
Holidays are not only a rest in known resorts on the Baltic Sea. What changes were seen in the reservations in July and August in Poland?
Rainy July in Poland was a test of strength for owners of holiday apartments and hotels, mainly at the seaside. Entrepreneurs in Masuria were not satisfied with the number of reservations. The mayor of Mikołajki, Piotr Jakubowski, in an interview with PAP, noticed that this year’s capricious weather the number of visitors to the well -known resort fell by 40 percent. The mayor of Olsztynek, Robert Waraksa, also talked about the decrease in the number of guests.
We asked Katarzyna Szkudlarek, Area Manager in the Sun & Snow group, managing a group of over 3,000, about observations about the high season and the directions that Polish tourists chose Polish tourists. Apartments in 60 holiday resorts and cities in the country.
– As every year, Western Pomerania (Kołobrzeg, Świnoujście, Międzyzdroje), besides the mountains and Masuria, enjoyed the greatest interest. The number of reservations made in Poland and abroad this summer was comparable – said Katarzyna Szkudlarek.
Short reservations in resorts. Poles are looking for new impressions
However, you can see a change.
– We noticed that this year’s stays in typically holidays resorts, e.g. in Sopot and Mielno, were shortened to 2-3 days The group’s representative said. She added that stays in places with tourism “Slow”, closer to nature and away from cities were longer than in other regions.
In the case of Masuria, the results were good – but the first place was taken by a village made by Agnieszka Osiecka.
– Tourists want to discover local Poland, its values and flavors. We were surprised that despite the capricious weather, facilities in Karwica in Masuria were the most popular – said Katarzyna Szkudlarek. – A lot of people want to travel locally – by train, on a bike. Many of our guests also overcome the popular R10 bicycle path – a route that leads from Świnoujście to Hel. It is pleasant, flat and you can drive it in a week – she added.
Luxurious campsites and travels in campers. New trends
Glamping is a new trend of tourism – that is, “luxurious camping” (from English words glamorous – charming and camping). This is a rest in the bosom of nature, but in tents of a high standard (e.g. in Szelągówka in the Mrągowski poviat in Masuria).
– Tourists also like to connect their stay in our facilities with a visit to the Frontier ranch, where sheep and cow cheese are produced – noted Katarzyna Szkudlarek.
The popularity of campers, i.e. camping cars with a place to sleep, is also growing. In this way, tourists are increasingly reaching the Wolf’s Sun, one of the top attractions of Masuria. Forest Inspector Zenon Piotrowicz in a conversation of PAP announced that there are plans to use a new field for these vehicles.
