Pole with the third result at the Olympics! The amazing Olympic pursuit

Natalia Sidorowicz

Three Polish women were in the top 20 in the biathlon pursuit race at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Natalia Sidorowicz achieved a great result and recorded the third result!

After Saturday’s women’s 7.5 km sprint – where Kamila Żuk took a great eighth place – one could have wondered what the result would be on Sunday (i.e. February 15) for Polish biathlon at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

WINTER 2026: Three Polish women in their twenties! Natalia Sidorowicz with the third result

Sunday’s competition is the so-called pursuit run. What exactly are we talking about? The competitors started in the same order as after the end of the competition on Saturday. For this reason alone, the aforementioned Żuk seemed to be among those fighting for a really big result.

The biathlete from Wałbrzych finally crossed the finish line on Sunday as 12th. The lower place was taken by Natalia Sidorowicz, the hero of the Polish team. Why? Sidorowicz started as the 41st competitor in the group, but thanks to four flawless shots and a solid run, she recorded a great performance. If only the results from the pursuit race were taken into account (i.e. without the results from Saturday’s sprint), Sidorowicz would take third place!

The third Polish woman, Joanna Jakiła, also performed well and advanced to 16th place (she started as 28th in the group). Three Polish biathletes in the top twenty in the Olympic competition? All that remains is to applaud this form on the Winter Olympics 2026 route.

On Wednesday (February 18), Polish women will run in the relay.

The fourth Polish woman on the route on Sunday – Anna Mąka – finished the competition in 40th place.

2026 Games in Italy. Where and when to watch the Poles’ starts?

The Polish national team during the opening games consists of 60 athletes. In the 21st century, there has never been a time when a Polish woman or a Pole was not on the Olympic podium during the Winter Olympics. During the last winter games, Poland finished the competition with one medal. The bronze medal was won by ski jumper Dawid Kubacki in the normal hill competition.

It is already known that Kubacki’s result was beaten at the Winter Olympics 2026 by a debutant among Olympians – Kacper Tomasiak. The 19-year-old great talent won a silver medal in the normal hill competition and a bronze medal in the large hill competition in Predazzo.

Another Olympic runner-up, Vladimir Semirunni, who made his debut at the Winter Olympics, was also runner-up in the 10 km speed skating race.

In the history of the Olympic Games, the Polish national team has won a total of 26 medals – seven gold, nine silver and ten bronze, respectively. Interestingly, the first bronze medal for Poland was won by Franciszek Gąsienica-Groń (Nordic combined) almost exactly 70 years ago, during the Olympic Games in… Cortina d’Ampezzo. This year, history has come full circle in a beautiful Italian-Polish Olympic circle.

Broadcasts from Winter Olympics 2026 in Poland are provided by Telewizja Polska (TVP) and the Discovery group (Eurosport). The event will last until Sunday, February 22.
