Poland’s historic advancement. 18 tons of gold arrived in a month

The National Bank of Poland reported that Poland is among the world leaders in terms of gold reserves. The NBP has already collected over 613 tons of precious metal worth over PLN 324 billion.

The National Bank of Poland currently holds over 613 tons of gold. These data were presented by the President of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapiński, emphasizing that Poland was among the ten countries with the largest resources of this metal in the world. According to the head of the central bank, this is a moment of historic significance. Just a few years ago, Polish reserves were much smaller, and today the country is among the world leaders in terms of accumulated gold.

NBP: Poland in the world elite. Gold worth over PLN 324 billion

The value of gold reserves held by the NBP at the end of May amounted to approximately PLN 324.2 billion. Importantly, a significant part of this amount is the increase in the value of the precious metal itself.

Adam Glapiński reported that unrealized revenues resulting from the increase in gold prices amount to PLN 153.2 billion. It is the difference between the current market valuation of the accumulated resources and the average price at which they were purchased by the central bank.

NBP does not stop and continues to invest in gold

At the end of April, NBP gold reserves amounted to 595 tons. This means that in just one month, Polish resources increased by another 18 tons.

However, the central bank does not intend to end purchases. The President of the National Bank of Poland announced that the goal is to reach the level of 700 tons of gold. Such a result would further strengthen Poland’s position in the world reserves ranking.

Who has more gold than Poland?

Before Poland in the ranking there are, among others, the United States, Germany, France, China and India. Nevertheless, the promotion to the top ten shows the scale of changes that have occurred in the NBP reserves management policy in recent years. Growing gold resources are treated by the central bank as an element strengthening the state’s financial security and the stability of currency reserves in periods of global economic uncertainty.
