Donald Tusk announced that Poland will try to organize the Olympic Games. – Taking into account the initial decisions, commitments, declarations of the International Olympic Committee, we can talk about 2040 or 2044 – explained the prime minister.
– For many months we have been working to make this dream of an Olympic Games in Poland a reality and today I can, because there is probably no better place than Orlik with children playing, in my opinion I prefer to announce it here than at the PKOL headquarters. I dedicate this decision to today’s 10, 12, 15-year-olds that Poland will formally make efforts to organize the Olympic Games – said Donald Tusk.

The Prime Minister noted that “life will show whether this is a realistic goal, a realistic perspective”. – Taking into account the initial decisions, commitments, declarations of the International Olympic Committee, we can talk about 2040 or 2044 – explained Tusk. The head of government, accompanied by Sławomir Nitras, noted that “people without complexes must take up this project”. He assured that “Poland has no reason to do so”.
The Minister of Sport thanked Tusk for the declaration. “I think this is information that Poles have been waiting for. I saw the games in Paris and I can say that from the organizational side we are ready to carry out such a project, Poland is ready. Of course, it requires infrastructure outlays, but we already have many things,” said Nitras.

– We want to prepare a document and – I hope – in November I will present to the world of sports, the assumptions for the new sports strategy. In this case, it seems that the date 2040, so that it is related to the Olympics, the strategy until 2040, seems the most logical – added the Minister of Sports.
– I hope that we will spend the winter and spring of next year in a serious discussion with the entire community, all people interested in sports, on how to ensure that the games take place, are a success and a driving force not only for sports, but for all of Poland – continued Nitras.
