Poland will have new nature reserves. Four of them are being created here
New reserves in Poland are being created because of a special occasion. The State Forests want to celebrate their centenary and open a total of 100 protected areas in our country.
We know very well that Poles love visiting forests and reserves. Every year, there is no shortage of tourists visiting mountains or famous lakes. Their areas are often protected and you can only move along designated trails. Soon there will be even more such areas. All this in the vicinity of the Opole province.
New reserves in Poland
TVP3 Opole reported on the work on opening new nature reserves in our country. From the short report we learn that we will notice the changes in the next few months. Opole region will gain as many as 4 valuable places in the Prudnicki and Kluczborski forest districts and two in Oleski.
At the moment, it is known that in the Kluczbork Forest District, the “Kania” nature reserve will be created with an area of 74 hectares, in Prudnik – “Mańkowice” with an area of approximately 110 hectares, and in Olesno, the “Osieczyńskie Modrzewie” reserve will be created with an area of almost 70 hectares, as well as “Kozłowickie Grądy” – with an area of 31.5 hectares.
The areas for the development of new reserves were designated by the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection. It was noted that until now there had been no protected area in the Olesno Forest District. The reason for choosing these particular areas was explained in a specific way. “These are areas that are very well known to naturalists. They have already appeared in various concepts and plans, which is why we decided to appreciate this effort of our predecessors,” said Justyna Kantorczyk-Gałkiewicz, Regional Nature Conservator in Opole. It was reported that the aforementioned areas would be closed to walkers.
The goal is noble
“We will protect primarily the forests with grey alder, but there are also many species of the forest floor, including marsh red and bouquet lysimachia,” added Krzysztof Reszko from the Kluczbork Forest District. In turn, Mr. Maksymilian Dobosz from the Olesno Forest District informed about many other protected elements. “We have ash-alder nests here, a diverse habitat, holes, hills, and amphibians.”
Residents of the area can still submit their comments on the project via the website of the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Opole.
In total, 100 new reserves are to be created in Poland. “We want one hundred new nature reserves to be our birthday gift for Polish women and men. I hope that the first reserves to celebrate the 100th anniversary will be created this year. This will be a lasting and the best commemoration of our anniversary that one can imagine,” informed Witold Koss, Director General of the State Forests.
