Poland closes the border. The local government warns against consequences
After invading the Polish airspace of several Russian drones, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration decided to close the border with Belarus. In an interview with the Polish Army, Bogdan Daniluk, deputy head of the Terespol commune, was opposed to such steps.
After announcing the decision to close the border on Wednesday in the next two days, the string of cars at the Brest-Terespol crossing was observed on Thursday noon. In the afternoon, about 70 buses and over 1,600 cars were waiting for Poland. In turn, about 280 trucks were waiting for the entrance to our country at the crossing in Kozłowicz/Kukuryki.

It is already known that not everyone will be able to enter Poland before midnight on Thursday, when border crossings will be closed. Let us remind you that not only car traffic will be blocked. – We close the boundaries with Belarus in connection with the threat resulting from the maneuvers of Zapad – announced Marcin Kierwiński, mentioning the fear of provocations.
Russian-Belarusian exercises take place from 12 to 16 September. It has been planned that 13,000 will take part in them. Soldiers, although Germans say that it could be a number three times higher. It is not known if the border will open after the maneuvers. – We will open the transitions when we are sure that the situation does not pose any threat to us – said Kierwiński.
Local government agent against closing the border
Deputy Head of the Terespol Commune Bogdan Daniluk in an interview with the Polish Army reminded that the railway terminal in Małaszewice is one of the most important points on the so -called New silk trail. – This is the shortest, the fastest and most economical way of goods from China to Europe – he emphasized.
– All companies that are the main taxpayers of the Terespol commune, but which are also a very important source of state budget revenues, operate in the Małaszewicz transhipment area – he explained, warning against the consequences of long -term closing of the border.
The deputy head of the commune reminded about large investments in the TM region, including modernization of railway infrastructure or border crossings. – And now in the context of closing the border a serious question mark appears regarding these investments. I admit that it raises our considerable anxiety. If the passage is blocked in the long run, in our opinion it is a shot in the knee as a state – he said.
