Plus MCX: A new era of critical communications in Poland

Innowacyjna Sieć Łączności Krytycznej – Plus MCX

Poland is gaining the first nationwide critical communications network Plus MCX, based on LTE 420 MHz technology. This innovative solution of the Polsat Plus Group will provide reliable communication for emergency services, security authorities, as well as the industry and energy sectors, even in the most difficult conditions.

The Plus MCX network provides entities with critical infrastructure with reliable data transmission even in extremely unfavorable circumstances. In this way, a solution unique on the Polish market can support the organization of rescue operations and allows for quick response in crisis situations. The launch of Plus MCX is planned for early 2025.

Plus MCX (mission crical pervices) is a safe, dedicated and resilient critical communications network for uniformed services, crisis management authorities, energy, industry, logistics and other sectors responsible for security that must be prepared to operate in difficult situations and conditions. The solution operates in the form of a separate telecommunications network, based on the 420 MHz band with excellent propagation parameters using LTE technology. Thanks to this, the Plus MCX solution allows for uninterrupted communication between users, minimizing the possibility of external interference. An additional advantage of the system will be the extended operating time of the transmitters, which ensures communication even in the event of failure of publicly available telecommunications networks. The service will be available throughout Poland, and its launch is planned for early 2025.

Plus MCX uses the MCPTT solution – mission critical push to talk. It is a special dispatching system that allows the dispatcher to handle calls, manage user groups and view the location on a dedicated application. It is a central communication tool with access to a map with the location of users and recorded conversations, which provides significant support for the activities of services responsible for crisis management.

The MCX (MCPTT) standard is the result of many years of work by the 3GPP telecommunications organization, created as a response to the increased demand for broadband data transmission in critical networks to support voice calls, many dedicated applications as well as a new functionality – video calls (push to video). The LTE network can meet such requirements. The latest technological standards used successfully support public safety in the United States, Great Britain, South Korea and many other countries around the world. The Plus MCX Critical Communications Network operates on the 420 MHz band in LTE technology, which, compared to commonly used frequency bands, is better able to overcome terrain obstacles, which translates into more reliable connections, especially in difficult conditions. The Plus MCX network is compatible with existing and used radio systems in the TETRA and DMR standards, allowing crisis operations to be carried out using one dispatch system.

Plus MCX Applications:

Emergency and Public Services:

Police, fire brigade, emergency medical services and rescue teams where reliable communication is necessary to coordinate actions.

Industry and Energy:

In the industrial and energy sectors, where instant communication is crucial for the safety and effectiveness of operations, and critical infrastructure with many supervisory devices requires protection through a dedicated, secure data transmission network.

Transport and Logistics:

In the transport and logistics industry, where cooperation between employees is essential, this service allows for quick and coordinated actions, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

Protection and Safety:

In security companies, monitoring facilities or crisis management, where reliable communication is a key element for effective communication in a threat situation.

Critical Communications Network Plus MCX is the first nationwide solution that significantly improves the quality of group communication in key industries. Thanks to LTE technology at a frequency of 420 MHz, users receive not only reliable connections, but also security and support in emergency situations. The use of push-to-talk services, geolocation and dispatch functions are essential tools for fast and effective communication in a dynamically changing environment.
