PLN 4,950 instead of PLN 800 plus? These parents can benefit

Świadczenie 800 plus

Mateusz Morawiecki’s party proposes replacing 800 plus with the so-called Parental Salary. Who would be entitled to PLN 4,950 gross?

One of the most important program proposals presented by Mateusz Morawiecki’s Development Plus association (and soon the party) is the so-called Parental Salary. Its possible introduction would result in changes to 800 plus.

Parental Salary. PLN 4,950 gross for whom?

The Parental Salary would be payable to one of the parents of a child up to the age of 3 and would be equal to the applicable minimum wage – currently it is PLN 4,806 gross, and from next year probably PLN 4,950 gross.

It would be fully contributory and taxable, and would also provide the right to insurance in the National Health Fund. Receiving such a salary would not be linked to employment, so it would be possible to combine the benefit with professional work or child care at home.

– We leave you free to choose. We are creating a system that will not in any way punish, condemn or tell young people that one of their life choices, whether they want to stay at home with a child or go to work, is somehow better and rewarded by the state, while another is worse and is punished by the state. No, there is complete freedom of choice here – explains Marcin Horała, MP, one of the leaders of Rozwoju Plus.

Funds for the Parental Pension would come from the liquidation of some of the existing programs. This includes “kosiniakowe”, “Grandma” and 800 plus, but only for children up to 3 years of age.

Every third Pole supports the proposal

The cost of the Parental Salary is estimated at PLN 40-42 billion per year. If the above-mentioned benefits were eliminated, it would amount to approximately PLN 23-25 billion.

From a survey by SW Research for “Straight” shows that The Development Plus proposal is supported by one third of Poles (33.4%). Slightly more, 39.1 percent. is critical of Parental Pay. 18 percent respondents admit that they have not heard about this idea, and 9.4 percent has no opinion on this matter.
