PKP Intercity has completed the acceptance of all 50 wagons modernized to the COMBO standard. The vehicles have undergone modernization at the H. PKP Intercity has new wagons. They will take passengers on vacation
The carrier signed a contract for the reconstruction of wagons with the Poznań plant two years ago. The project assumed adapting the rolling stock to the needs of, among others: people with disabilities, seniors, families with children and cyclists. PKP Intercity received the first modernized wagons in spring, and the entire acceptance process was completed at the end of May.
The new COMBO will be used primarily on seasonal holiday connections. There will be, among others: on TLK “Kozica” Poznań-Zakopane, TLK “Pułaski” and TLK “Bursztyn” trains running between Kraków and Kołobrzeg. Trains with modernized wagons will also run year-round trains to popular tourist destinations such as Zakopane and Tricity.
New PKP Intercity wagons. There are big changes coming inside
Inside, passengers will find amenities known from modern trains. There are electrical sockets and USB ports, Wi-Fi and a passenger information system displaying, among others, current route, stops and temperature. There are also vending machines with drinks and snacks installed in the carriages, which operate throughout the journey. Moreover, the investment improved not only the appearance and equipment of the wagons, but also the driving comfort – including: by replacing bogies, which reduces noise and improves ride stability.
Great emphasis was also placed on the comfort of families with children. Colorful graphics appear in the separated compartments, and the arrangement of seats allows them to be connected, which allows you to create a place for the youngest to rest. There are changing tables in the toilets, which makes traveling with babies easier.
