PKOl President responds to controversy: “I am proud of these billboards”
On billboards promoting the Olympic Games in Paris, one could see not only the best Polish athletes. Among them was Radosław Piesiewicz. The President of the Polish Olympic Committee reacts to controversial comments and reveals how he ended up there.
Just before the Olympic Games, there was a lot of commentary on the advertising billboards promoting the Olympic Games in Paris. Wilfredo Leon and Iga Świątek took part in them. Probably no one would have commented on it more broadly if it wasn’t for the fact that, together with our Olympians, the silhouette of… the president of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław Piesiewicz, appeared on these huge posters.
Radosław Piesiewicz: I am proud of these billboards
Many anonymous people made mocking comments and asked “what competition is Radosław Piesiewicz competing in”. The President of the Polish Olympic Committee decided to respond to these comments in an interview for “Wprost”.
– Beautiful billboards. I am proud to be on them with our athletes. I don’t see anything wrong with that. We are one big #TeamPL that supports Polish athletes. I am the president of the Polish Olympic Committee, I made sure that the athletes and their team had everything provided for them and I make sure that they feel comfortable – he said.
PKOl President: We are a nation that likes to hate
Gazeta Wyborcza journalist Radosław Leniarski wrote a text on the subject, in which he stated that: Clearly AI is painting the president of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław Piesiewicz, on billboards next to Iga Świątek and Wilfredo Leon. I know him, he wouldn’t do it himself. He is too modest and shy. He also added that this is an attempt to ridicule the president of the Polish Olympic Committee.
How does the person concerned see it? – Everyone can have their own opinion. Unfortunately, we are a nation that likes to hate and does not appreciate good work. We have to accept it – he emphasized.
– When the opportunity arose to be on billboards with our athletes, I took advantage of it and I am proud of it – he concluded.
Moreover, in one of the interviews Radosław Piesiewicz informed that he appeared on billboards because it is an advertising campaign of one of the PKOl’s sponsors.
