Although the Olympic Games in Paris have come to an end, the Polish Olympic Committee is still on everyone’s lips. The reason? Irregularities that were allegedly committed in one of the most important associations for Polish sports.

On August 12, Sławomir Nitras presented data on the financing of athletes’ preparations for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2022-2024 from the state budget. It shows that During this time, the Polish Olympic Committee received over PLN 92 million in subsidies.while Polish Olympic associations received PLN 785 million from the state budget at the same time. The minister asked Radosław Piesiewicz for information regarding, among other things, the composition of the delegation to the Olympic Games in Paris. Despite the fact that the IOC requires such data to be provided, the PKOl refused to disclose it. The head of the committee assured that he acts in accordance with the law and works hard for Polish sport.

This, however, did not end the matter. Roman Giertych announced that the PiS settlement team, which he manages, will file a notice to the prosecutor’s office in connection with the suspicion of committing the crime of using state money for private purposes. – Since PiS members have attacked these sports associations like locusts, we have decided that we have the knowledge to deal with this matter – explained the KO MP. The politician explained that “the fact that the Polish Olympic Committee did not disclose data concerning, among others, the composition of the delegation, may be grounds for the prosecutor’s office to investigate the matter.”

Katarzyna Kierzek-Koperska, who is a member of the team led by Roman Giertych, assessed that “during the rule of Law and Justice, a spiderweb of personal connections, the so-called Family on Its Own, was created around the Polish Olympic Committee.”
