Payment failure in Poland. Minister of Finance: The reasons will be explained
The Minister of Finance announced an explanation of the reasons for the Saturday card and BLIK payment failure. Problems have been removed and the system is already working normally.
On Saturday, September 13, there were problems with non -cash payments in many places in Poland. The failure affected both card transactions and BLIK. Information on difficulties began to appear around noon, and users reported the inability to pay in stores and service outlets.
System failure
The first official messages confirming the failure appeared before 14. Eservice, one of the largest payment operators in Poland and Central Europe, informed on Facebook that there was a break in the operation of services. “Shortly after it was diagnosed, we started intensive work on restoring full system efficiency,” was reported in a statement.
A little earlier, the danger.pl website warned to take cash with it, because in many stores and cities there were problems with accepting payments. In a short time, the failure covered various regions of the country, which caused great difficulties for customers.
End of failure
Around 14.30, Eservice announced that the problems were removed and the systems returned to normal action. This was also confirmed by the Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański. “Payments with payment cards are restored. Blik also works. The causes of the failure will be explained,” he wrote on platform X after talking to the Polish Bank Association.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski also referred to the matter. In an interview with Wirtualna Polska, he noted that the operator implemented technical activities and the main problems were resolved. He emphasized that it was a short -term failure, but felt for many customers.
ESERVICE reminded that it settles around 3.6 billion non -cash transactions in 12 European countries a year, and in Poland serves almost every third payment. The scale of the company’s operations means that every break in the system reflects on the daily functioning of millions of users.
