Paving stones hurt Poles in the pocket. There is an alternative (price list)
The costs of purchasing and laying paving stones have increased significantly in recent years. It is not surprising that Poles are increasingly choosing the cheaper option.
As we have already written, Poles are slowly moving away from paving stones, noticing the disadvantages of this option. In summer, paved properties turn into hot, heat-trapping deserts, and during heavy downpours they prevent water from seeping into the ground naturally, which sometimes leads to flooding and overloading the sewage system. Not without significance is the fact that in recent years this solution has become quite expensive.
In 2023, the cost of laying paving stones by a professional company ranged from PLN 50-100 per square meter. According to calculations presented by the website farmer.pl, this year it is on average from PLN 80 to even 140 PLN/m² gross, and the installation of edges costs approximately PLN 30-55 net per linear meter. 15 years ago, laying paving stones cost approximately PLN 20-30 per square meter.
Paving stones are becoming more expensive
The portal reports that in 2026, the prices of paving stones from manufacturers and construction warehouses increased by approximately 8-12%. year to year. The rule applies here: the thicker the material, the higher the price. In the case of a 4 cm cube, prices start from PLN 42 and end at PLN 70 per square meter. The most frequently chosen 6 cm cube currently costs from PLN 48 to PLN 95 per square meter. In the case of an 8 cm cube, the price range is PLN 55-115/m².
A cheaper and nicer alternative
Rising prices encourage Poles to choose not only cheaper, but also more aesthetic and ecological options. One of them is a lawn grid, also known as eco-grid. Made of extremely durable recycled plastic, it creates a honeycomb structure that stabilizes the ground. The openwork grid is placed on a prepared gravel base, and its empty holes are filled with fertile soil and sown with grass or covered with fine, decorative aggregate. The material takes over the entire weight of parked cars, protecting the grass roots from being crushed and preventing the formation of deep ruts. As a result, instead of a gray square in front of the house, we have a green parking lot that can also be used by heavy delivery vehicles.
It is estimated that the cost of laying an eco-grid is from PLN 40 to PLN 120 per square meter, including materials and labor, depending on the load and preparation of the substrate. Plastic grilles (parking/garden) cost from PLN 9 to PLN 35 per square meter. Backfill materials range from PLN 20 to PLN 60 per square meter.
