Some parents complain about delays in payments of the so-called grandma’s. The Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy commented on the situation.

At the end of last week, Money.pl informed about delays in payment of funds under the “Active Parent” program, also known as “grandmother’s program”. Contrary to announcements, some parents did not receive money from the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), which was supposed to be paid by the end of December last year.

Deputy Minister on delays in “granny”

Aleksandra Gajewska, deputy minister of family, labor and social policy, referred to these delays in the Sejm. – From the start of the program to January 7, a total of 461,233 applications were submitted for 469,379 children. From the start of the program to the end of December 2024, over 80% of applications have been considered. applications submitted during this period, even though the inflow of applications increased in October – said the deputy head of the Ministry of Family, emphasizing that explanatory proceedings are ongoing and ZUS must verify a lot of information.

ZUS itself explains that there are gaps in the documentation that require additional investigation. For example, it may happen that the applicant entered incorrect data about the nursery his child attends, or the nursery did not enter the parent’s data into the register. It also happens that the data in the available registers are not sufficient to establish that a given person is the child’s parent and it is necessary to obtain an additional document from the applicant. There are also situations where both parents submitted an application for the same child, which makes it necessary to determine which parent has custody of the child.

ZUS also draws attention to the fact that some parents have applied for two different benefits from the “Active Parent” program. Let us remind you that parents of children aged 12 to 35 months can take advantage of the following options:

  • “Actively at home” – a parent who stays at home with a child can receive PLN 500 per month,

  • “Active parents at work” – professionally active parents can receive PLN 1,500 per child, the assumption is that this will finance the work of a nanny or care by a grandmother or another family member,

  • “Actively in the nursery” – PLN 1,500 will go to parents of children who attend the nursery.
