A tragic accident on the tracks paralyzed railway traffic in Wrocław. Train delays reached up to 200 minutes.
Friday morning, May 29, brought huge difficulties for railway passengers in Wrocław and the surrounding area. After a tragic accident on the tracks between Grabiszyn and the Wrocław Mikołajów station, the movement of some trains was paralyzed. Delays in some connections reached up to almost 200 minutes.
Wrocław. Railway accident. One person is dead
The incident occurred in the morning. According to the police, the pedestrian entered the tracks in an unauthorized place and fell into the presence of the Lower Silesian Railways. – At 7, an outsider entered the tracks, in a prohibited place, outside crossings and crossings. Appropriate services were immediately dispatched to the site. The police will explain the causes of the incident, said Marta Pabiańska from the PKP PLK press office.
Police officers and the prosecutor worked on site for several hours. The track where the accident occurred was closed to traffic, which caused an avalanche of difficulties throughout the region. The problems affected both regional and long-distance connections.
Tragic accident in Wrocław. Chaos on the railway
The biggest delays were recorded, among others: on the routes Wrocław – Białystok, Poznań – Zakopane or Milicz – Jelcz-Laskowice. Record difficulties concerned the KD 69908 train on the Trzebnica – Wrocław Główny route, which was delayed by 197 minutes.
Some trains were canceled, others were detoured. Koleje Dolnośląskie reported problems mainly on the lines towards Zakrzów, Rawicz, Jelcz-Laskowice and Oleśnica. Some trains bypassed the Wrocław Mikołajów station, and passengers had to use alternative transport.
Canceled, among others: the Świdnica Miasto – Wrocław Zakrzów train and the Wrocław Zakrzów – Bielawa Zachodnia connection. Other trains were directed along circular routes, which further lengthened the journey.
Only around At 10.30, the gradual restoration of normal traffic began. In the afternoon, Koleje Dolnośląskie announced that traffic had already been fully resumed, but some trains were still experiencing delays resulting from previous difficulties. – The event has already ended. Full train traffic has been restored, said a spokesman for Koleje Dolnośląskie.
