President Andrzej Duda signed an amendment to the act on the supplement to the social pension. It will amount to PLN 2,520 and will be paid from May 2025.
President Andrzej Duda signed an amendment to the act on the supplement to the social pension. – The purpose of the Act is to introduce a new benefit, i.e. a supplementary allowance, into the Act on social pensions. This supplement will be available to persons entitled to a social pension who also meet an additional condition, i.e. they have a certificate of total incapacity for work and for independent living. – the Chancellery of the President reminds us in a statement.
The supplementary allowance will be granted at the request of the person applying for this allowance or his or her statutory representative, as well as at the request of another person, the head of a social welfare center or the director of a social services center, acting with the consent of the entitled person or his or her statutory representative.
Addition from May 2025
The allowance will amount to PLN 2,520 and will go to approximately PLN 130,000. people. The act will enter into force at the beginning of next year. The benefit will be paid in May 2025, but with compensation until January. The act provides for annual indexation of the allowance (it will take place in March). The increase in the allowance amount due to indexation will take place ex officio, without the need to issue a decision. The allowance will be paid together with the social pension.
As Business Insider Polska reminds, the introduction of the allowance is the result of the work of the parliamentary subcommittee, which in May supported amendments to the citizens’ bill on increasing the social pension. Initially, the citizens’ project assumed an increase in the pension from PLN 1,217.98 net to the amount of the minimum wage. After the changes, the supplementary allowance will be an additional cash benefit available to persons entitled to a social pension who are completely incapable of work and independent living. Currently, the social pension and the pension for total incapacity for work amount to PLN 1,780.96.
