Orlen’s new strategy. Rational transformation and business acceleration

Orlen

The Orlen Group, the largest fuel company in Central and Eastern Europe, has updated its business strategy for 2025–2035.

President Ireneusz Fąfara announces that thanks to it, the company will set a course for rational energy transformation and business acceleration, which is of key importance for Poland’s position in the international arena.

Global challenges and opportunities for Orlen

In the face of the changing balance of power in the world and the effects of the war in Ukraine, the Orlen Group plans to focus on regional and global development. Energy transformation, emission reduction and implementation of innovative technologies will become the foundation of the new strategy. Orlen sees these challenges as an opportunity to strengthen its position as the champion of Central and Eastern Europe.

Energy stability and security

Despite global turmoil, the continuing demand for conventional fuels gives Orlen a stable basis for further development and transformation. It will be crucial to invest in low-emission technologies that support Poland’s energy security. Orlen maintains its ambition to achieve emission neutrality by 2050, focusing on the development of renewable energy sources, energy storage and new technologies such as small nuclear reactors (SMRs).

Decarbonization and green innovation

In the updated strategy, Orlen announces intensification of activities in the field of decarbonization of its products and infrastructure. The priorities include:

  • Development of renewable energy sources (RES): Wind farms on land and at sea and photovoltaic projects.

  • Energy storage: New technologies will ensure security of green energy supplies.

  • Downstream Sustainability: ‘Greening’ Refinery Processes.

The group also declares the development of the electromobility market, offering integrated products for households and enterprises under the Vitay program.

Integration of the Orlen Group and synergy effects

The next step will be the implementation of uniform corporate governance and integration of companies belonging to the Orlen Group, such as Energa. Thanks to this, the company plans to develop the market for emission-free hydrogen, synthetic and renewable fuels, and green energy for its refineries.

Gas as a stable transformation fuel

Orlen focuses on diversifying natural gas supplies, using the resources of the Norwegian shelf and LNG from the United States. The development of competences in gas trading on international markets will be an important element of the country’s energy security.

Orlen. A new course for success

The strategy for 2025–2035 sets ambitious goals for the Orlen Group, which are to contribute to the development of Poland and strengthen its position on international markets. Emission neutrality, innovation and energy transformation are the foundations of the future of the Orlen Group, which intends to use its capabilities to meet global challenges and regional needs.

Thanks to the new strategy, the Orlen Group opens up to an ocean of opportunities, while strengthening Poland’s energy security. Energy transformation and building competitive advantages will determine success not only for the company itself, but also for the entire country.
