Orlen Oil Motor Lublin became the champion of the PGE Ekstraliga for the third time in a row. In the rematch of the final, the defending champion confidently defeated Betard Sparta Wrocław 52:38. The hosts did not give their rivals a chance.
Orlen Oil Motor Lublin has become the league dominator for good in recent years. Coach Maciej Kuciapa’s team was the favorite in the final series, and winning the first match 47:43 gave them a slight advantage before the rematch taking place on the track in the capital of the Lublin region. There was no sensation on Monday evening. The Lublin team did their job and thanks to a 52:38 victory (99:81 in total), they secured their third Polish championship in a row.

Betard Sparta had a difficult task from the beginning of the rematch, because after the first heat Motor confidently won the next rounds of the clash, increasing its advantage. After the first series, the Lublin team was leading 18:6. This was influenced by the good attitude of Bartosz Zmarzlik and the individual junior world champion Wiktor Przyjemski.
There were no big, spectacular actions in the rest of the match. The vast majority of the results of the race were determined by a good start. Artiom Łaguta’s solid form was of no use when the rest of the squad from Lower Silesia was unable to fight Motor. However, the Russian with a Polish passport was unable to defeat Bartosz Zmarzlik in a direct duel.
