The Polish office agreed to launch a new foreign railway route through Leo Express. Replacement bus transport will no longer be necessary.
This is good news for passengers who like long international routes and want to travel comfortably to Frankfurt Airport. On Thursday, June 25, the Czech rail and bus operator Leo Express received consent from the Office of Rail Transport to launch a long-distance connection from Przemyśl Główny to Frankfurt.
PKP Intercity requested an examination of the economic balance in connection with this connection, but the office did not see any obstacles.
One of the longest routes in Europe
“With a route length exceeding 1,300 kilometers, it will be one of the longest direct rail connections in Europe,” said Peter Köhler, president of Leo Express, earlier. “Leo Express will thus break the symbolic barrier between Eastern and Western Europe on the railway and will connect key European centers with the entry gate to Ukraine via a direct route that has been missing so far.”

The decision obliges the Czech carrier to run one pair of trains per day on the proposed route. Detailed conditions are given.

The Czech company is developing its offer on the Polish market step by step.
From June 25, it added connections on the international Warsaw – Kraków – Prague route. Four trains a day will run in each direction on the key national route Warsaw – Krakow and back. The number of connections between Warsaw and Prague will increase to three daily in each direction.
“The number of travelers is growing month by month, and 45,000 tickets for the Warsaw – Krakow – Prague route have already been sold in advance for the period from June to August. Three quarters of them are cross-border tickets or tickets on the Polish section of the route,” says Peter Köhler, president of Leo Express.
