One Million Seniors to Get Double Pension in August – We Explain Why
Many seniors are in for a big surprise in August. Their accounts will receive two transfers of pension. We explain how this is possible.
Close one million seniors will receive a double transfer with their pension in August. However, this is not an additional gift from the government or a system error. The calendar is to blame. People whose ZUS or KRUS benefit payment date falls on the 1st of the month will receive the July transfer as planned.
One Million Seniors to Get Double Pension in August – It’s Not a Mistake
In August, a second transfer will be made to their account, because September 1 falls on a Sunday. On that day, postmen do not work and state institutions do not carry out any transactions. According to the regulations in force in our country, if the pension payment date falls on a holiday, then the money must be delivered earlier. This means that the benefit must be paid into seniors’ accounts no later than August 30, which is the last working day of the month.
Fourteenth. How much is it and who can receive it?
What’s more, it will be increased by the so-called fourteen. This is an additional benefit for retirees, which is intended to improve their financial situation and living conditions. It will not be the same for all those entitled and not every senior is entitled to receive it.
According to information provided by the Prime Minister’s Office, the additional funds will reach approximately 8.9 million retirees. Of this group, 6.4 million people will receive the full amount, while 2.5 million people will be entitled to a lower payment.
In 2024 the fourteenth pension will amount to PLN 1,780.96 gross and it will be received by people whose pension does not exceed PLN 2,900 gross. Those who receive a higher pension will automatically receive a reduced salary. Seniors whose pensions are higher than PLN 5,500 are not entitled to receive the fourteenth pension.
