One flight and three countries at your fingertips. New Wizz Air route from Poland

Bazylea

It is the best base for trips to Switzerland, France and Germany. At this airport you can cross the border even without a plane ticket. Wizz Air will fly there from another city in Poland.

On October 14, the Hungarian Wizz Air announced 5 new routes from Poland. Among them is a surprise – on September 21, 2026, a new connection from Poznań to Basel will launch, specifically to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. So far, purple planes have taken passengers from Warsaw there.

Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The airport is close to the junction of three countries

The airport is located in Saint-Louis, France, in the Trinational Eurodistrict of Basel. The metropolitan area spans three countries: Switzerland, France and Germany. To put it simply, we can say that tourists land here in three countries at the same time. From EuroAirport, the border crossing point is only 4.7 km away.

The largest large city close to the airport is the Swiss city of Basel (4 km away). The airport is located approximately 20 km southeast of Mulhouse in France and 46 km southwest of Freiburg.

Due to its location close to the borders, the regional port serves three countries and is a good base for European travel, e.g. exploring the Alps and border regions. Basel is also a great choice for a city break. Mediterranean air flows into it, which gives it a mild climate.

This is how you cross the border at the airport

The airport consists of a French and Swiss part. Arriving passengers can choose whether they prefer to collect their luggage in an area closer to the exit towards France or Switzerland. The relevant exits are clearly marked.

You can cross the French border into Switzerland at the airport terminal, even if you do not have a plane ticket. All you need to do is have a valid passport or ID card with you. The border crossing point is at the departures level (level 3).

Wizz Air’s new announcements will also please passengers who enjoy traveling around the Balkans. In June next year, the lines will take tourists to Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro – from Gdańsk, Poznań, Rzeszów and Wrocław.
