Iga Świątek returns to the game. The best Polish tennis player will play in the WTA 500 tournament in Bad Homburg. Interestingly, the Pole will be seeded number 1 in the ladder.
This was not certain a few hours ago, when Yelena Rybakina was among the participants. Kazaszka, who is ranked second in the WTA rankings, finally decided to withdraw from the tournament just before Wimbledon. The Grand Slam is a priority in the context of this moment of the season, for virtually every tennis player from the world’s top.
Wimbledon 2026 broadcasts will be available on Polsat sports channels and online at Polsat Box Go. The tournament is scheduled for June 29 – July 12. Qualifying will start a week earlier.

It is worth recalling that in the 2025 season, Świątek reached the final of the tournament in Bad Homburg. Ultimately, Jessica Pegula turned out to be better than the Pole. The defeat against the American only in the final of the event was a good omen for Wimbledon. The Pole confirmed this in London, reaching for the final triumph in the most legendary tennis tournament in the world.
Returning to Rybakina, why will Kazakhstan be missing? In an official statement, she admitted that she had “some discomfort in her right hip.” Let us add that the second-ranked player in the world, after her success on clay courts in Stuttgart (WTA 500) in mid-April this year, did not manage to get past the quarter-final stage of any of the subsequent tournaments in which she played.
So will history repeat itself and Świątek will show his good side again just before Wimbledon? The start of the WTA 500 event in Bad Homburg is just around the corner.
