Not renovation or new furniture. Over 70% of people say that this smell alone can make an apartment feel like a home
As many as 72% of people around the world declare that they have a strong emotional bond with coffee and admit that its smell makes the house more cozy and “homely”. This year, Philips celebrates 70 years of presence in the homes of coffee lovers – from the first electric grinder in 1956 to modern coffee machines that allow you to prepare your favorite cup like from a café without leaving home.
There are scents that are immediately associated with home. For many people, one of them is the aroma of freshly brewed coffee that wafts through the kitchen in the morning, accompanying them on weekend mornings or afternoons just for themselves. As a global study commissioned by Versuni, the official partner of the Philips brand in the small household appliances category, shows, coffee has an extremely personal meaning for consumers.
According to a study, almost 3 out of 4 people who drink coffee have important memories associated with it. 30% of respondents show a parent or grandparent preparing a cup of tea at home. In turn, 4 out of 10 people associate the moment when the apartment really started to be a “home” with the daily habit of making coffee or tea.
70 years of Philips in the world of home brewing
Philips’ history in this category began in 1956 with the first electric grinder that allowed you to enjoy the taste of freshly ground beans at home. In the following decades, the brand developed devices that responded to the changing needs of users – from filter coffee machines, through the Senseo revolution, i.e. a system for preparing a single cup of coffee from a portion enclosed in a special sachet, to the LatteGo system, designed for lovers of milky products and easy cleaning.
For 70 years, technologies, tastes and everyday habits have changed, but the goal has remained the same: to make a cup of good coffee available at home.
The cafe is getting closer to home
Today, preparing your favorite drinks at home is gaining new meaning. The study shows that 59% of people now brew coffee at home more often than 2-3 years ago, and 61% want to recreate the coffee shop experience in their kitchen. What counts is not only convenience, but also quality, variety and the ability to tailor the drink to yourself.
– Since 1956, we have been making great coffee accessible to everyone – we create devices that are intuitive to use and designed for real life. We know that coffee is more than a drink – it is a regular part of the day – says Marya Salim, Global Head of Marketing for Coffee.
– Our research shows that 61% of people today want to recreate the atmosphere of a café in their own home, and our mission is to make this possible for as many people as possible. This is the essence of 70 years of Philips experience: we simplify what is most complex in a barista’s work and transfer this quality to the home kitchen – says Marya Salim, Global Head of Marketing for Coffee.
Philips LatteGo Pro 8000 – the next step in the home experience
The latest example of this evolution is the Philips LatteGo Pro 8000 – an espresso machine created for people who want to enjoy cafe quality in their own kitchen. The device allows you to prepare a wide selection of drinks with one touch: from classic black options to milk variants, also in a cold version.
The LatteGo Pro system allows you to obtain velvety foam, also from plant drinks, and the tubeless design facilitates daily cleaning. This solution is part of the 70-year history of Philips – a history of simplifying home brewing and creating devices that respond to the real needs of everyday life.
The 70th anniversary of Philips is not only a story about technology. It is also a story of everyday moments that create the atmosphere of home: a familiar smell, a favorite cup and a few minutes that allow you to pause during the day.
