Not only Sicily and Capri. This island will enchant you with its colors and peace
When you think about spending your holiday on an Italian island, do you have Sicily, Sardinia or Capri in mind? We have another unique offer for you near Naples.
The thing about popular islands is that, although they are picturesque, they can be crowded. The worst is during the peak holiday season. If you want to relax for a moment in an intimate gem, but in a beloved European country, choose Procida. What is this place? We’re cheating!
An alternative to the famous Italian islands
Procida is the name of an island that doesn’t mean much to the average tourist. Just like in Greece, not everyone knows Hydra, which is less crowded than Santorini or Rhodes. If you love Italy, you will love this beautiful place in the Campania region. You will relax on the Tyrrhenian Sea among beautiful landscapes and colorful houses.
Although when thinking about staying on an island near Naples, you have certainly taken into account the famous Capri, you can leave it for the quieter Procida, called the queen of colors. This is where you will take unique photos that your neighbors will envy and avoid queues and huge bills. The island is perfect for both a one-day trip and a several-day stay – it is inhabited and you can easily find accommodation there. There are attractions, beaches and walking routes in the area, and relaxation should take place in a quiet and friendly atmosphere.
Procida. It’s worth seeing
The Italian Porcida is associated primarily with colorful houses, the climate of which can partly be compared to the Venetian Burano. Some buildings are pink, others yellow, blue or orange. The narrow and intimate streets add charm to everything. Since the island is not large and only 4 square kilometers in size, you can easily visit it all, even if you only spend a day there. While walking, it is worth visiting a local restaurant or cafe and enjoying the view of the sea. Charming volcanic beaches with dark sand are also great for complete relaxation – Chiaiolella and Chiaia are mainly recommended.
How to get there? It’s best to fly from Poland to Naples – which is also worth visiting – but when you get tired of the chaos and noise of this city, take a cruise directly to the island. The crossing to Procida will take less than an hour. You will find a special ferry or hydrofoil in the port of Molo Beverello or Calata Porta di Massa.
