Not Kraków and not Gdańsk. An underrated Polish city for an autumn city break
Are you planning an autumn or winter trip? If so, it is worth considering one of the small and atmospheric towns in Poland. Hardly anyone has heard of it, but it is worth attention.
When we think about beautiful and atmospheric Polish cities, we usually see Gdańsk, Krakow or Warsaw. When planning trips, we also want to focus on the largest and most popular ones. What if the perfect choice for a short autumn trip turns out to be an underrated and little-known area? Travelist.pl has published a special city ranking. In one category, the town of Reszel was on the podium.
Reszel is perfect for a city break
Ideal cities for city lack can be selected based on many different criteria. The creators of the Travelist.pl ranking focused on beauty and climate. Reszel won third place thanks to the second category. There is no such atmosphere even in Krakow or Gdańsk.
Reszel was considered the pearl of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It is known that it can be found in the Kętrzyn district and that it is located in the Mrągowo Lake District, on the Sajna River. “A place that provides solace and rest from the hustle and bustle of a big city” – this is how Travelist.pl described it. The advantage of the city is that time passes very slowly there, there is no typical city bustle or noise. Interestingly, Reszel is also on the prestigious UNESCO list of monuments.
What about local attractions? In Reszel, the most noteworthy attractions are the castle of the Warmian bishops, the Gothic church of Saints Peter and Paul and bridges created in the same style. Moreover, there is no shortage of market square and tenement houses in the Old Town. The old town is very small, so we can visit it very quickly. On site you will also notice, among others: a classicist town hall or a reconstruction of a medieval well. In addition, there are defensive walls, granaries and a city park. There are a lot of interesting nooks and crannies, and most importantly, they introduce tourists to an extraordinary atmosphere.
The best in the ranking. It’s worth going here in autumn
In the Travelist.pl ranking for the most atmospheric town for a city break in Poland, Sandomierz won over Reszel and took first place. Kazimierz Dolny appeared on the second one. Both of these cities are also great options for a fall getaway.
When it comes to destinations considered the most beautiful, specialists from Travelist.pl, together with thousands of Internet users, awarded Gdańsk first place. It was followed by Kraków and Wrocław. Do you have your favorites?
