No more traveling dogs in the luggage hatch. Changes have been made here
Imagine that you are flying on a plane, and your dog – regardless of whether large or small – sits happy, right next to you. In this European country they say “yes”.
Many people dream of traveling freely by plane with their quadruped. It is still not possible everywhere, or at least not in the way we dream about. Dogs or cats, often, instead of sitting next to us, they have to stay in the luggage hatch. Italians show that you can do it differently. Here they focused on changes.
Dogs on board the plane
Until now, in Italy it has been required that medium and large dogs fly in a luggage hatch. Now travel regulations are extended on site. Thanks to them, both animal owners and their pupils are to be happier. The possibility of taking larger individuals directly on board aircraft was announced by the Italian Ministry of Transport.
The regulations have been approved by the Italian ENAC Civil Aviation Office, which means that medium and large dogs can stay next to their owners and no longer have to travel in the hatch. This is good news, because as you can guess for most quadrupeds, the closing in isolation – sometimes for many hours, was a traumatic experience.

When using the new rules in Italy, follow the requirements. Four -legged friends can stay in the cabin, but they must be placed in a special transporter. This – if possible – can be placed on the seat next to each other. The dog must also be properly protected by seat belts or other fastening systems.
“The total weight of the animal and the transporter may be higher than the currently planned limits, but it cannot exceed the maximum weight provided for the average passenger.” – the Italian Ministry of Transport announced.
Local authorities decided to change with satisfaction, ensuring that they are a response to contemporary social needs. Currently, airline lines remain to determine the prices and conditions of travel for passengers flying with animals. The case concerns Italian lines, including such as Ita Airways and Neos Air.
Poles who learned about the changes did not hide their admiration. They hope that other countries, including Poland, will follow the Italians. “Italy is probably the most friendly country for dogs, I love them for it!”, “As I dreamed of it. For years we have been traveling only by car because of dogs, and now there is a chance to get to the distant corners of Europe faster,” – commented under one of the instagram posts.
