No more fluid limits and queues. This airport in Europe is changing the rules for holidays
Tourists always wait impatiently for such changes. This time it’s not about Poland, but about another beautiful tourist destination. No more fluid limits.
The big countdown to lifting the limit on liquids in airport luggage is underway in Switzerland. The Port of Zurich will change the rules on Friday, June 26, 2026. You can count on such amenities, among others: in three cities in Poland. Here’s what to expect in another European country.
Zurich airport ends limits
Passengers departing from Zurich Airport will be able to carry liquid containers with a capacity of up to 2 liters in their hand luggage. During the peak of holiday travel, you will be able to count on simplified procedures during security checks, which will significantly reduce queues.
Currently, in ports where limits apply, you can only take a small cosmetic bag with bottles of 100 ml each and a maximum capacity of up to 1 liter in your hand luggage. Thanks to new devices that can better scan the contents of backpacks, strict rules are no longer necessary. Additionally, inspectors do not require you to remove electronic devices from your luggage, including: tablets or laptops.
In Zurich, liquids and electronic devices will be allowed to remain in passengers’ luggage at all security checkpoints in the security screening building.
The port in Switzerland has been changing for the better for a long time
The comprehensive modernization of security control has been ongoing in Zurich since the end of 2025, because the new CT technology, similarly to Poland, was introduced there gradually.
“The project is currently in its final phase. As of Friday, no conventional security screening equipment will be operational. Once the reconstruction is complete, all 26 security checkpoints in the security screening building will be equipped with the new technology,” confirmed Roman Jung, project manager, Zurich Airport Ltd.
It is worth remembering that despite the changes, transit tourists will not be able to use the facilities in Zurich.
In Poland, liquid limits have now been lifted at three airports – in Kraków, Poznań and Rzeszów. Still waiting for their turn are: Warsaw and Gdańsk.
