Coach Nikola Grbic begins his fifth season with the Polish national volleyball team. The Serb revealed when exactly he would announce the list of those called up and who might be missing.
The last weeks of club volleyball are a clear signal that the national team season is just around the corner. According to tradition, the volleyball matches of national teams will begin almost several dozen hours after the last ball of the Final Four Champions League tournament.
What is worth emphasizing is that two Polish teams will play in the final tournament in Turin (May 16-17): PGE Projekt Warszawa and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.

The coach of the Polish national team gave an interesting interview to Agnieszka Niedziałek from Sport.pl. Nikola Grbic touched on many topics related to the upcoming national team season. For the Serb, this will be the fifth such start with the Poles, as the contract came into force at the beginning of 2022.
Should we expect any changes compared to the previous season and those appointed then? The list will officially appear next Thursday (i.e. April 16).
You can read quite a lot from the words of the Polish coach in the interview. One of the issues is the presence in the squad of Norbert Huber, who has been the team’s main player in recent years. However, it seems that the midfielder who plays in the Japanese league may not be in the national team in the 2026 season.
– If you have a really serious injury and you are coming back from it, you can still feel it and think about it later. But you also know how to deal with it and how to prevent the injury from recurring during the game. I believe that the environment that caused Norbie’s problems will not change. Playing this sport involves a lot of stress, pressure, being the center of attention, etc. Some of these things are not triggers, but some of them can mess with your head in many ways. You may think about the comments you read, wonder if you are good enough, if you will be able to win, etc. This is where honesty is needed. You can say: “I can’t do this, it’s too much for me. I’ll just focus on the club.” Just like “Elvis” did, although it’s a different matter. But you can’t use such a thing to choose the tournaments you will play in, said Grbic, although it is worth reading the whole thing to understand the full context.
It is also worth adding the words of Ireneusz Kłos, a distinguished Polish representative, who spoke in WPROST about the Serb’s appointments. In his opinion, even Bartosz Kwolek should be in the team.
Kłos also drew attention to the figure of PGE Projekt attacker Bartosz Gomułka.
– A boy who joined the Warsaw Project team, initially considered mainly for double shifts. And now it turns out that the band wouldn’t be where it is without this guy. Gomułka has proven many times that he is great on these heavy, most difficult balls. And he is not worse than, for example, Bartłomiej Bołądź. That’s why it would be nice to see Gomułka in action, if he proved himself in the national team, but also in a larger capacity. I hope this will be the case – he admitted in a special interview for WPROST.
What will the Polish national team ultimately look like in the 2026 season? We will find out in mid-April.
