NIK files notifications to the prosecutor’s office. 800+ picnics on censored
The President of the Supreme Audit Office, Marian Banaś, said that the institution he manages has sent notifications to the prosecutor’s office. This is the result of inspections in the ministries of family and foreign affairs, the office of the Ombudsman for Children, the Institute of National Remembrance and the Social Insurance Institution.
– These notifications regarding budget control are after the control of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, the Social Insurance Institution, the Institute of National Remembrance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the office of the Children’s Rights Ombudsman – said Marian Banaś, president of the Supreme Audit Office, in an interview with Studio PAP.
The notification concerning the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy concerns suspicion of mismanagement in connection with the promotion of the 800 plus program.
– In the case of the Ministry of Family, we are dealing with mismanagement. It was mainly about 800 plus and the promotion of the decision to change the amount of financing for families from PLN 500 to PLN 800. It was ex officio, so there was no need to advertise, which took place, especially during the election period. Our auditors considered that we are dealing with a serious case concerning mismanagement of public funds – said the president of NIK.
Five notices for mismanagement
In the analysis of the implementation of the state budget for 2023, we read that “the administrator of the Family section, when applying for the allocation of funds from the general reserve in the amount of PLN 10 million for information and promotion activities concerning the increase in the child benefit from January 2024, did not prepare any action plan, nor did he estimate the amount of funds necessary for their implementation”.
“The Chamber considered the incurred expenses in the amount of PLN 9.6 million, mainly for the organisation of 95 800 plus picnics, to be inappropriate and uneconomical,” it was indicated.
The NIK President reported that each of the five notifications sent to the prosecutor’s office concerns mismanagement in connection with the spending of funds from the state budget. “The prosecutor’s office will make decisions regarding our notifications. We are talking about thousands and millions of zlotys. These are serious amounts,” he added.
