New Year’s Eve party on a PKP train. Passengers welcomed the New Year on the road

Traveling on the last day of the year may bring various surprises. A delay or a sudden change in weather is enough to ruin your plans for a big party with your friends.

However, passengers of the PKP Intercity train probably did not take such a New Year’s Eve into account. The “Mehoffer” train from Przemyśl Główny to Zielona Góra had a significant delay (as much as 226 minutes), so two passengers welcomed 2025 on the road. This unusual event was immortalized on TikTok by the user @ bloodica.

As you can see in the video, everyone was in a good mood. Even before the clock struck midnight, passengers who got off at earlier stations joined in the fun.

Most of them got off in Wrocław, but two people were going to Głogów. Music from the loudspeaker and a good mood were enough for the delay of over 200 minutes to be no problem. According to the plan, the train was to reach Głogów at 20:59, but the train arrived at the destination only seven minutes after midnight. The author of the film got off at the station with the only passenger other than himself and wished the PKP employee. Fireworks could be heard exploding in the background.

“I wish there were more such spontaneous events – wonderful people and brotherhood of unknown souls – Happy New Year 2025” – wrote the author of the video on TikTok. Internet users also liked the recording and wrote that they had never had such a New Year’s Eve before.

We read on the Intercity website that these are not the first problems for “Mehoffer” at the end of the year. On December 21, due to a locomotive failure and delay of the Wrocław Główny – Zielona Góra train, the journey from Legnica to Zielona Góra was canceled. Passengers were allowed to travel and arrangements were made to have their tickets honored on other trains. This time we managed to reach our destination without a transfer, but in a very positive atmosphere.
