New speed cameras on motorways and expressways. We know where they will appear

GITD is introducing more speed cameras on motorways and expressways. Since the beginning of the year, drivers have broken the law almost 650 thousand times, which could cost them over a quarter of a billion złoty.
The Chief Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD) is intensifying its efforts to increase road safety by expanding the network of speed cameras and section speed measurement systems. These plans also include installing new devices on motorways and expressways. Since the beginning of 2024, the speed cameras already in operation have recorded almost 650,000 traffic violations.
Currently, section speed checks operate in 52 locations, recording almost 190,000 speeding cases to date. Meanwhile, 442 speed cameras have identified as many as 461,000 drivers who were speeding.
According to data provided by the daily newspaper “Rzeczpospolita”, the sum of fines that drivers caught red-handed will have to pay will amount to approximately PLN 227.5 million. The daily also notes that this amount may soon increase, as more devices recording road violations appear on the map of Poland.

The planned expansion includes the installation of 128 new systems monitoring speed and other traffic violations. As part of these activities, section speed measurement systems will be installed in 43 new locations.
It is worth noting that 26 of these locations are on expressways and 17 on motorways. These include routes such as the A1, A2, A6, S2, S3, S6, S7, S8 and S17.
The development of speed control infrastructure on Polish roads aims to increase road safety, as well as more effective enforcement of road traffic regulations. GITD plans to further expand this network in the near future, which means that the number of tickets may increase even more.
