New Revolut ATM like a smartphone. This is what the future of cash looks like

Revolut

The modern Revolut ATM resembles a giant smartphone. He will appear on the streets soon. Check what he can and where the first model will happen.

A photo of the Revolut test ATM appeared on Platform X, which aroused great interest of Internet users. The device is more like a huge smartphone than a classic ATM. Although it was initially suspected that this could be a joke on the occasion of April Fool’s Day, FinTech quickly confirmed that the project was the most authentic.

New Revolut device

A modern ATM is currently in the basement of one of the Revolut offices in Spain. The company announced that soon the first such devices will appear on the Spanish streets. The new model is to offer much more than just cash withdrawal – users will be able to use the payment function and immediate issuing of payment cards.

One of the key innovations is the introduction of a face recognition system. Thanks to biometrics, users will not have to use traditional cards or enter the PIN code – the identity will be verified automatically, which is to increase the security of the transaction.

Device tests are already carried out and the implementation of the first copies in Spain is planned for the coming months. This is part of the wider Revolut strategy for 2025, which assumes the development of services, including the expansion of security functions in the mobile application and the introduction of new solutions, such as the Chrome card.

Modern device

Although the Revolut ATM looks modern, similar solutions have been operating for several years. In December 2019, the Russian Bank Tinkoff (currently T-Bank) implemented similar devices with 32-inch 4K screens. These ATMs use the touch screen instead of a traditional keyboard and offer a full range of services – from payments and cash withdrawals, through card payments, telephone or QR code, to biometric operations.

The innovative Revolut approach to banking can revolutionize the way users use financial services outside the application. The first devices will soon appear in public space – and if the tests are successful, similar ATMs may also appear in other countries.
