New information on the takeover of TVN. Donald Tusk blocked Hungarians?

An independent journalists from the Visegrad countries, the Independent Portal Vsquare described the details of the fight for the takeover of TVN. Journalists pointed out that in the previous year the TV2 group was able to submit an offer, associated with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The Czech PPF investment group was also mentioned, which was suspected of cooperation with allies of the Hungarian leader.

Ultimately, however, everyone was warned by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, announcing the classification of TVN and other key media companies as strategic enterprises. Thanks to this, the Polish government has gained the opportunity to prevent takeover, which could be dangerous to the interests of the Polish state.

Vsquare also described the current state of the tender process. The second round of negotiations is currently underway, in which three Polish business groups are to participate. One of the richest Poles, Michał Sołowow, stands behind one of the offers. There is also a consortium in the game, to which Wirtualna Polska and Rafał Brzoska, the owner of InPost. Onet, however, said that Brzoska withdrew from the project.
The last candidate for buying TVN according to Vsquare was to be Grzegorz Hajdarowicz, the founder of the Gremi Media Group.

A new player in the fight for TVN?

Journalists also report on the interest of the Greek company Antenna Group. Since 2021, it manages Sony Pictures Television Network stations in Central and Eastern Europe, and in Poland has an impact on AXN, AXN Black, Axn White and AXN Spin.
According to estimates, the price of TVN sales will be around one billion euros. So it will be one of the largest transactions of this type on the media market in Poland in recent years.
