Nawrocki couldn’t contain himself after the Poles’ match. The Internet is in a frenzy

Karol Nawrocki po meczu Polska – Albania

Karol Nawrocki couldn’t contain his emotions after the Poland-Albania match. The president’s behavior caused extreme reactions.

Karol Nawrocki does not hide the fact that he is a big football fan. Therefore, the president’s presence at one of the most important matches of the Polish national team was not a surprise to anyone.

On Thursday evening, March 26 the politician appeared at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw to watch live the struggles of Jan Urban’s players to advance to the World Cup.

Karol Nawrocki congratulated the Poles on their victory against Albania

The white and red team brought great emotions to the fans. Although they were losing 0-1 at the break, thanks to goals by Robert Lewandowski and Piotr Zieliński, they managed to turn the tide of the match and extend their hopes of advancing to the 2026 World Cup.

The president did not hide his joy at this turn of events. After the match, Karol Nawrocki decided to personally congratulate the players. A recording appeared online showing a clearly excited politician shouting at the players, “Who won the match?” and then joins them in chanting “Poland! Poland! Poland!”

This was not the president’s first behavior of this type. A few weeks earlier, Karol Nawrocki appeared in the locker room of Polish basketball players who defeated Latvia in the qualifying match for the 2027 World Cup. Then, together with the players, he shouted the slogan “Who won the match?”

Poland – Albania. Karol Nawrocki crossed the border?

Not everyone liked the emotional reaction of the head of state. Marek Migalski is exceptionally critical. The political scientist said that “the president shouting in the football locker room humiliates him.” “This is not how I imagine the behavior of the head of state. But I know that millions of Poles will be delighted with this picture. Such times, such population, such politics,” said the expert.

In an interview with “Przegląd Sportowy” he explained that “it’s not about the mere presence of Karol Nawrocki in the locker room, because previous presidents also made similar gestures, but about the way of celebrating the Poles’ victory.”

– I mean the screams. This is not how I imagine the head of state. I do not deny the president this type of privilege, because it is also beneficial for him and builds his position. Whereas being the “first Pole” imposes a certain way of behaving and, in my opinion, such fan shouts are not consistent with the position – he added.

Radosław Majdan about the presence of Karol Nawrocki in the Poles’ locker room

Radosław Majdan does not share these doubts. – This is a standard procedure. This cry says: “I am with you, I am one of you.” Considering the president’s history and his connections with football, this was to be expected – commented the former goalkeeper of the Polish national team.

When asked “whether the presence of a politician in the locker room could have been uncomfortable for the players”, the former athlete said that “the team members do not think too far when it comes to political preferences.” – They appreciate more that the president congratulated them, came down to the locker room and demonstrated this important victory with them. I think it was nice for the players, he explained.

Donald Tusk about the Poland-Albania match

Donald Tusk also supported the Polish national team. “Robert and Piotr. You can always count on them!” – the Prime Minister commented heatedly on social media. The head of government did not appear at the PGE National Stadium because, as he explained, “he considers football to be a very serious issue, but at that time there were votes in the Sejm.”
